Terms of Service
Last updated August 22, 2026.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and [TODO: legal entity] (“we”, “us”), who operates Vehicle Compare at https://vehicle-compare.vercel.app. By creating an account or paying for access, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. What the service is
Vehicle Compare is an informational research tool for comparing vehicle trims. It provides specifications, safety and reliability figures gathered from public sources, and a proprietary “Family Score”.
We do not sell vehicles, broker sales, arrange financing, or act as an agent for any dealer or manufacturer. Nothing on the site is an offer to sell a vehicle or a guarantee that any vehicle, trim, price, or configuration is available.
3. Your account
Accounts are created through a third-party sign-in provider or a one-time email link. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure, since anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live in order to purchase access.
4. Payment, renewal, and cancellation
Access costs $5 for 30 days. At checkout you choose one of two options:
- One-time. A single payment granting 30 days of access. It does not renew and nothing further is charged.
- Auto-renew. A recurring subscription that renews every 30 days at the same price until you cancel.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card details. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes that may apply to you.
Cancelling an auto-renewing subscription stops future renewals only. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and that period is not refunded or prorated. You can cancel at any time from your account page.
If a renewal payment fails, access may be suspended until payment succeeds. We may change pricing for future periods, but a change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and we will give notice before a renewal at a new price.
Nothing here limits any refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer law of your own country or state; where such a right applies, it takes precedence over this section.
5. Acceptable use
The compiled dataset is the product. You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or systematically extract the data;
- republish, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the data or Family Scores;
- use the service to build or train a competing dataset or product;
- share your account credentials, or use one account to provide access to multiple people;
- attempt to bypass the paywall, rate limits, or any access control;
- interfere with the service’s operation or security.
Reading pages normally in a browser, and saving or printing comparisons for your own use, is fine.
6. What belongs to whom
Individual specifications are facts and we claim no ownership of them. We do own the compilation: our selection, arrangement, verification, and enrichment of that data, the Family Score methodology and scores, the written guides, and the site’s design and code.
Vehicle makes, model names, and trim names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the vehicles being described. See the disclaimer for more.
7. No warranty
The service is provided “as is”. We work hard on data accuracy and document our sourcing, but we do not warrant that the information is complete, current, or error-free, or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from a purchase decision you made using the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations. Where that is the case, the limitations above apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms — particularly the acceptable-use section — or where required by law. If we terminate your access for reasons other than a breach by you, we will refund the unused portion of your current period.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The “last updated” date above will change, and material changes will be notified before they take effect for a renewal. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [TODO: governing law], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory law of your own place of residence.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms: [TODO: contact email].
